Uche Ignites Straightforward Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that all but guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved no match against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Control Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
