Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have occurred in their honor.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump informed journalists. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Reaction

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the individual that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Policy Changes

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the government to pause asylum applications and cease granting visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed the program that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
