The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration About Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
