It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
