That Gruesome Animated Film Ending That Stays With Fans

Among all the mature cartoon movies I have ever viewed, no other has remained with me quite like the terror-laced finale of a explicitly bloody as well as deeply subversive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spanish writer-director created a dark, melancholy and often savage world with several minor , forlorn glimmers of optimism.

While The Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from an impulse to advance animation even more, the filmmaker clarified that it was actually an effort to convey a global, multicultural theme regarding “the mutual source of each battle.”

That message is communicated through a band of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly inspired by a well-known line of cuddly characters.

Being raised in a community centered on militarism as well as the defense industry, many of these animals are obsessed with killing the mythical beasts, thanks to a holy book that claims the bears they were once rulers of the woodland, until these creatures forced them out.

Others have not completely accepted the brainwashing, and prefer to sample narcotics and engage sexually outdoors.

In contrast to their friendly counterparts, these vivid animals have visible genitals and clear libidos.

For one particularly cruel, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the war with the unicorns transforms into a path toward dominance — and specifically to dominance above his softer, kinder brother Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor , a seeming antisocial figure , and while horror dominates his unit and claims his comrades individually, he seizes progressively control for himself, in increasingly violent, damaging approaches.

At the same time, the unicorns are experiencing their own terror, through a spreading, destructive monster in their forest.

“Initially, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker commented. “But then it becomes a more dramatic and melancholic film. And in the finale, it becomes a scary feature.”

Unicorn Wars begins similar to one of the most whimsical films by a legendary animator, that discover a wicked pleasure in allowing cartoon characters swear, fire weapons, or have intimate relations.

Afterward it becomes closer to a more grim movie from the same artist, featuring progressively visual gore and a noticeable connection to the actual tragedy of war.

Ultimately, it becomes a full-on Grand Guignol carnage.

The terror which makes the film a Halloween-friendly viewing starts much sooner than one might expect.

The Unicorn Wars is one for the devoted fans of gore, for lovers of intense movies who want to watch something they’ve never watched previously, and can endure a narrative which delivers unflinching brutality.

See it with the lights off free from interruptions, and the finale will burrow into your mind and take up residence there.
