Shock as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the forty-year-old presenter was accosted by a trio of assailants, with one began shooting at him before running away.
The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a location close to the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the property managing the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the man was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report said.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what resembled a security uniform shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries across the street.
Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the attack.
Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the location.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the attack, and investigators have been tracking them to establish their destination," added an official.

"I am in shock. I don't have words," she said.
