Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
