Information Available Concerning the Fatalities of the Bondi Beach Terror Attack
A minimum of 16 individuals lost their lives and over 40 were hurt when assailants shot at a Hanukah event at Bondi Beach, a tragedy Australian authorities are describing as a terrorist attack.
According to the most recent information, authorities have stated the death toll remains at 16, which includes one of the suspected attackers. Moreover, 42 people with injuries were transported to hospital.
The deceased have not yet been formally identified, but investigators think their ages are from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Described as a father of five children, he served as the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and friends described him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a family member said.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, as stated by his wife.
She told the events before the attack, saying they were standing when the gunfire began. “He shielded me because he wished to be near me,” she said.
The pair were both survivors of the Holocaust, having faced immense hardship in their childhood. They had subsequently moved to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French foreign ministry have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is a casualty.
Publicly, a senior official expressed that France shared the grief of his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a fresh and tragic example of a revolting outpouring of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,” the message continued.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was rushed to the a children's hospital succumbed to her injuries, authorities stated.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was among those killed in the incident, as per multiple sources referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
From the 42 people taken to hospitals, a significant number remain under care, with several in a critical state. The injured include two officers who attended the scene.
One of the injured is a bystander who rushed to the scene to confront one of the attackers. Called a local hero, he received bullet wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. Reports indicate he was injured and is receiving treatment in hospital.
In a message, he recounted the scene as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He said he believed it was a “miracle” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the shooting. He described he listened to “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he explained. “I’ve been shot myself. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
