Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
